When I try to download automatically in dashboard this version. Everything goes well.
It is installed ... but when I go to 'see site', I don't see the site anymore. Only a blanco page.

I also tried to installed it like a new plugin and by FTP.
All same result.

Is it a template problem maybe? Does someone knows a solution?

I installed WP on my host server, got my new site working and in trying to go live, after backing up current site things got messed up! I just restored the backup .sql.gz and now I can still see my newsite but I can no longer log in or get any of the page links to work. I can poke around on the dashboard and things look like they did there before I messed up!

I've read quite a few tutorials today from my provider but am pretty lost at this point, help?

Hello obrun19,

I don't get how I'm supposed to create a new 'online' MySQL without cPanel?

WordPress requires a MySQL database. So you will need access to a database before you can install Wordpress. This isn't something you can do over FTP. You Need to get your hosting provider to create a db and then provide you with database information.

However,
If you already have the database information, then yes it's possible. Let me know if you need any other help.

Thanks,

I have a real website (non local) and it wanted me to create a config.php file. I did it by following the config-sample and only by editing the things like usename_here .
But now it tell me that there is an error while establishing a database connection. Help?
(I entered temp2000.esy.es ) as a database location in the config.php file
Thanks

Are you absolutely sure that is the correct DB_HOST ?

About 80% of the time, the correct value will be localhost as the database is hosted on the same server as the files.

If localhost doesn't work, here are a few other common possibilities listed by hosting provider: https://codex.wordpress.org/Editing_wp-config.php#Possible_DB_HOST_values

Alternatively, your hosting provider will be able to tell you your database's host if you ask them.

How can I find my DB_Host through FTP?
Is it the path from wordpress? or what?

You will need to contact your web hosts for details of your database hosts. That's not something e can help you with. Some hosts use localhost but if that doesn't work for you, you will need to consult your hosts.

I'm trying to install WordPress onto 123-reg and I keep getting
There was a problem installing the requested script. Please make sure that the directory you are installing to is empty.
and within the content bit in File Manager, I have nothing and when it asks for the installation directory, I've left it blank.

I've tried closing my browser, creating a folder in the content and copying the name over to the installation directory and I'm still getting the error.

What do I do??

If you can FTP to your host, check if you have the wp-config.php file in the root folder of the wordpress directory. Open that file and make sure the information in that file is accurate.

If not, you should have a file wp-config-sample.php.

Open that file, insert the correct information and then save that file as wp-config.php

You really shouldn't have to do any of this if during the web-based install, however this might get you moving towards a good install.

You'll need to ask your hosting provider about. We have no control over their third-party installers, so there isn't much we can suggest besides "I guess make sure the directory is empty," which it sounds like it is. :(

If you do a manual installation, I'm sure it will work, but if not, we can definitely help with that: https://codex.wordpress.org/Installing_WordPress
