Latest WordPress (3.5.1 or some dev versions) has some issues after manual upgrade from old version because there are some important changes. Its difficult to say, whether the problem is with Softculous. It can happen that Softculous by default installs an older version and automatically updates it without the user's knowledge.
It is better to install latest wordPress version manually (FTP upload method) by downloading from WordPress.org. As the installation is new, there is no need to think or search troubleshooting it, deleting everything and installing freshly manually will hardly take few minutes.
