Ideally wordpress gives the error message like 'Error establishing database connection', when database not configured properly. So try checking DB credentials once again.
Also check your Hosting (localhost at most cases) if it has hosted at different server.

@MagikCommerce,

Have you had chance to read @esmi's reply above?

Building, designing, or developing a site locally such as you did with MAMP is actually an intermediate skill in my book. So if you could do that, I would suggest using the Duplicator plugin. It will make moving your site much easier.

We were able to connect to the database server (which means your username and password is okay) but not able to select the lasttran_lt database.

Are you sure it exists?
Does the user lasttran_root have permission to use the lasttran_lt database?
On some systems the name of your database is prefixed with your username, so it would be like username_lasttran_lt. Could that be the problem?

@ganeshpokharel Per the forum welcome please post your own topic.

Your question has nothing to do with this topic. If you are having a problem then starting your own topic is the best way for you to get help.

Hey everyone,

I'm in the process of migrating from Blogger to WordPress, and have been reading tutorials on how to make the whole thing easy. There's one thing that none of the tutorials answered.

After importing my site from Blogger to WP, to be able to retain the same URLs for the old posts, I have to update the permalink structure with
/%year%/%monthnum%/%postname%.html

My question is: Will the new posts that I write also have the same URL format, i.e. /year/month/post name?
Or will the new posts have the normal WP permalinks?

Thanks for any help. I'm new to WP and really confused.

All posts, past and present, will use the permalink structure you have saved at Settings -> Permalinks in your site's Dashboard.

Thanks again guys for your replies.

I received the passwords for myphpadmin from my hosting provider and find two databases created, one for the old ModX- site and a random one. My hosting provider said that it's okay to use the same database (as the old site) for the the new site – is this true?
Can I just install WP there and then have the main domain show the old site and the subdomain show the new site?

And thanks Keith Driscol, this plugin seemed to be pretty easy-to-use, the installer does all the work! Maybe'll try that if I don't figure this out.

Your Site is saying Index of/ because apche is unable to find an index file in your home directory. If you have uploaded wordpress using Ftp client like filezilla ,please check that the extracted wordpress is uploaded to your PUBLIC_HTML folder .If it is uploaded in the same folder then check it contains a Index.php file with proper permissions .....
still you are facing same problem then kindly follow Automatic wordpress installation using softaculous app installer .

is this true?

Yes - you can install WordPress using a database that was originally created for another site. However the other site also used WordPress. then you will need to change the table prefixes via your wp-confog.php file.

I'm trying to upload WordPress onto 123-reg and I have the following error when I click onto the domain name on the page where the header is Installation Complete, the error is:

Runtime Error

Description: An application error occurred on the server. The current custom error settings for this application prevent the details of the application error from being viewed remotely (for security reasons). It could, however, be viewed by browsers running on the local server machine.

Details: To enable the details of this specific error message to be viewable on remote machines, please create a <customErrors> tag within a "web.config" configuration file located in the root directory of the current web application. This <customErrors> tag should then have its "mode" attribute set to "Off".

<!-- Web.Config Configuration File -->

<configuration>
    <system.web>
        <customErrors mode="Off"/>
    </system.web>
</configuration>

Notes: The current error page you are seeing can be replaced by a custom error page by modifying the "defaultRedirect" attribute of the application's <customErrors> configuration tag to point to a custom error page URL.

<!-- Web.Config Configuration File -->

<configuration>
    <system.web>
        <customErrors mode="RemoteOnly" defaultRedirect="mycustompage.htm"/>
    </system.web>
</configuration>

Try contacting your hosts about this. It looks like a server issue.

I'm sorry to hear that but there's very little we can do to help with this here here.
